Liquid Suboxone

I have 5 ampulets of liqiud buprenorphine hci and intend to use them to kick. The ampulet says it is for IM/IV use and is 2ml, .3mg base. For the past month or so I have been taking kadian and avina morphine caps, doing on average of 400mg per day. My question is how to best use the suboxone I have to over come this habit. Do I have enough? When and how much should I use? I was going to go to an out patient suboxone program but it is crazy expensive... its fucked up. I cant afford to pay what they want but I cant afford not to either. I was lucky to run across these ampulets and I really hope Ill be ok. Please advise!!!

I never knew that buprenorphine came in liquid form.... Let alone for IV use... Lucky you, not having to dissolve that bitter orange tablet. I wish they offered another route of administering the drug besides oral... Only use bupe when your having physical symptoms of withdrawl moderate to severe. I'm not sure on the IV dosage but for oral a good dosage for moderate to strong use is 4-8mgs. I wouldn't use more than 2mgs at a time with IV at a time yet your body will tell you what works for you best.

0.5mg to 1mg is a good IV dose of buprenorphine.

It's not the best idea to IV buprenorphine with a high tolerance - you will be disappointed without a low opiate tolerance.

You'll end up getting the same effect as if you had sublingually dosed 2 to 3 times as much, and it won't actually help you quit as well as sublingually dosing suboxone would.

There are outpatient programs that aren't "crazy expensive" when you have insurance.

I'd like to guess you also couldn't afford 400mg of morphine a day without insurance, but I could be wrong on that one. If you can afford it w/o insurance, there's no reason you shouldn't be able to afford suboxone.

Liquid Buprenorphine goes by the name Buprenex. And 2 mg vials x 5 is only 10 mgs. and thats only a two days suply starting off. Also buprenorphines duration/halflife is also greatly reduced useing it IV as compared to sublingual administraton.

One of my friends procured a single vial of Buprenex a couple months ago. I had completely given up opiates, but decided I'd give buprenorphine a shot since I figured it was a once in a lifetime opportunity. I drew up 1ml (0.3mg), registered a vein (I'm positive), and injected.

I put a bandage over the injection site and waited for the rush, thinking it was going to be like IV hydromorphone. I got NOTHING, though. The only thing I felt was *slight* sedation about 1 minute later, feeling about as strong as 0.5mg alprazolam without tolerance.

I had no opiate tolerance at all at the time. Strange...

HalfLife has zilch to do with ROA. Duration of effects...but not HalfLife. A month long habit isn't going to be shit to step down from although I doubt you've got enough Bupe to make it painless...

UTSE and look for a taper program regarding the use of BUPE. I have successfully detoxed myself off of fairly large habits with only a total of 24 milligrams.

If you don't find anything here that helps check out the BUPE section over on OPIOPHILE.

Im not sure about that, after years of taking subutex and some months here and there of only slaming it def seems like when your ROA is IV you can shoot some Heroin and feel it after waiting only 12/16 hrs, and yet when your on sublinguel maintence you have to wait atleast 24/36 hrs before your going to feel any dope shots.

Why is that strange? 0.3mg of IV'd buprenorphine isn't a whole lot.

I can't believe the buprenex is only 0.3mg/1ml...wtf kind of strength is that?

Sounds right to me.

Buprenex comes in 0.3mg/ml for use in pain relief. 0.2mg Temgesic and 0.3mg Buprenex are the dose units for pain relief. HIgher doses of Buprenorphine are generally needed for opioid replacement therapy, for maintenance or detox/taper, which is why Suboxone/Subutex come in much, much larger dosage units (and also why Subutex and Suboxone are not allowed to be used as pain killers).

I support the use of Buprenex (and IV Buprenorphine in general) in maintenance treatments. However, this treatment modality is really only useful for maintenance, not detox (due to the shorter half life of IV vs sublingual Buprenorphine, and the peak-baseline-sick high-low peaks of IV vs sublingual Bupe). Plus, to properly calibrate the right doses for an individual, a medical professional (specifically an addiction specialist, or pain mangement doctor, or any medical professional familiar with narcotic dosing and addiction) is needed.

You only have, in total, 10ml (3mg) Buprenorphine. This is not enough to taper effectively.

I understand the high cost of Buprenorphine treatment via office-based doctors and prescriptions.

There is another option. Many established Methadone clinics offer Subutex/Suboxone as well. You would have to attend the clinic like a MMT patient, but you would be given Buprenorphine instead, and it would be up to you whether to do maintenance or detox/taper, and at your own pace. The cost would be the same or in the same range as MMT (i.e. $12-$20/day).

subutex injectable

Way before we had suboxone and subutex their is and was buprenex injection .o3mg per one ml. this was used in pre surgery sedative. a naive person would get a small high, but trying to kick even a short acting opioid you may need a three day supply. taken seperately. THe iv injection need to be given very slowly for absortion rate to be good. but but detoxes had been using this medication for years before suboxone was released to the market in 2003. I detoxed myself using this at home from methadone, MOST IMPORTANT DO NOT EVEN THINK about taking your first dose until you are in almost severe withdrawel otherwise it will start your withdrawel during your first dose of subutex. REMEMBER Bupernorphine will kick any opioids off of the receptor in the brain because its has a much more power to stick to that receptor. THats why suboxone treatment is not given to people for detox unless they are in withdrawel.

A month isn't a long time to be using, have you tried/considered cold turkey with OTC meds? Use the bupe if you must but those ampules won't last long.

I agree with Mr. Blond, if you've only been using for a month, if you put your mind to it i think you could kick the habit with minimal discomfort using OTC meds and maybe some benzos...

Yes I'd agree too. Go for as long as you can without using it I'd suggest.
If it gets too much you could give yourself a dose.
